Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana Bangalore abbreviated as S-VYASA is the first ISO certified Yoga University. It was established in 1986 as a registered charitable institution. The institute works to combine Yoga with modern scientific research. S-VYASA was approved by UGC with a Deemed to be University status in 2002. It is accredited by ICMR. The University is working by following the vision and teachings of Swami Vivekananda and translating them into action by providing high quality education programs in Yoga.
Vision: It was set with a vision to “Be and Make”, means to bring the holistic vision of Yoga to the globe to initiate holistic health for the entire world.
Mission: Its mission is to coordinate yoga and spirituality of the east with the modern scientific research of the west.
To accomplish its objectives, the institute is providing degrees to Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D, MD, Yoga Instructor, Post graduate Diploma, Short term, and online courses. Some of the courses which students can pursue at S-VYASA include B.Sc in Yoga & Vedic Therapy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy, M.Sc in Yoga Therapy, MD-Yoga, Ph.D-Yoga, PGDYT, Self Management of Excessive Tension (SMET), Ayurveda Lifestyle Management Course, and more.
Admissions to S-VYASA Bangalore are made following the norms laid down by UGC and the state government. Candidates for UG courses are selected based on the marks scored in the qualifying exam, while for PG and Ph.D courses a written test followed by an interview is administered. Afterwards, a merit list of the shortlisted candidates will be prepared. Final selection of the students is made systematically by the Admission Committee. Students can also pursue more than one course at a time, for which separate applications are to be submitted for each course.

They should also make sure to confirm whether they are fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the respective course they are applying for. Note: All UG courses provided by the institute are of four years duration and Yoga Instructor Course of one month duration is mandatory before joining.
The institute supports awarding scholarships to the meritorious students and to the reserved category candidates. It makes efforts to obtain scholarships from the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Karnataka. Under these scholarships, tuition fees are waived and accommodation is provided free of cost to enable financial support to the economically weak students. Students are also benefited by loan scholarships and donors’ scholarships. Apart from these scholarships, various government, non-government, and philanthropic institutions also offer scholarships to students with different eligibility.

The Training and Placement Cell at S-VYASA drives its efforts to find the best placement for its students. It ensures to be the most favorite destination for recruiting organisations. The final year students must register themselves with the Training and Placement Cell to participate in the recruiting process for placements. Earlier batches students are also permitted to participate in the recruitment process as per the Deferred Placement Policy. Students of S-VYASA must understand and follow the Placement Policy for desired results. Constant efforts of the Cell have placed many of its students in India and abroad.
S-VYASA campus is 30 kms away from the center of the IT hub, Bangalore, and 14 kms from the Bannerughatta National Park. The campus is called Prashanti Kutiram and is spread over an area of 100 acres. The class rooms are with ICT facility and internet facility is also provided to students to access e-learning resources anywhere anytime. Teaching laboratories are also present at the campus to give hands-on experience in practical subjects. The Research center of the institute is known by the name Anvesana was founded over 30 years ago to reinstate the lost yoga practice.
