Azim Premji University

Azim Premji University is situated in Bangalore, Karnataka, and was established back in the year 2010. And the university is run by Azim Premji Foundation. The main aim of the university is to contribute to the social sector of the country by imparting quality education. Azim Premji University is recognized by the UGC, New Delhi.

The foundation works for no profit, and 90% of the expenditure of the university is taken care of by the foundation itself. The university offers various diplomas, certificates, and undergrad and post-grad programs. The university offers BA major degrees in Social Science, English, Philosophy, History, and Economics. The university offers B.Sc major degrees in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Physics. The university even offers a dual degree course in Education and Science. LLM in Law and Development is also offered at the Bangalore campus of Azim Premji University. And various other MA programs are offered at the university. In the streams like Development, Education, Public Health, and Economics. The diploma courses offered at the university are in online mode only.

The university offers counseling sessions for the students at campus as well as outside the campus for assistance. There are more than sufficient faculty members at the University for educating students. And this results in better interaction between the teachers and students. And the faculty and staff members at the university are highly educated to impart education to the students.

Azim Premji University offers both offline as well as online admission processes for the students. The applicants can simply fill out the form that is available at the university campus. Or they can visit the website of the university and register by paying ₹500 and then filling out the admission form.

Admission procedure

• The institute allows applicants to apply two times in rounds 1 and 2.
• After applying at the university applicants have to undergo an entrance exam conducted by the university. The entrance test consists of MCQs as well as descriptive-type questions. And in MCQs negative marking is also applied for wrong answers.
• Then the selected applicants have to undergo a PI for which they have to appear at the university or they can be conducted through an online process.
• Then the selected applicants are offered an admission offer by the university. The applicants can confirm their seats by paying the fee.

Note: The University also grants admission on the basis of KVPY and SAT scores.

Eligibility criteria for UG programs

• The applicant should have completed the 12th standard with a minimum of 50% marks from any of the recognized boards like CBSE, ICSE, or PUC.
• For NRI students the eligibility criterion is to clear an examination that is equivalent to class 12th. The marks obtained should be minimum of 50% marks and they should have studied a minimum of 3 subjects.
• Or the applicant should have completed his/her IB diploma or certificate course with a minimum of 24 points.

Note: The applicants can only apply at the university if they are less than 21 years till 31st July of the year of admission.

Eligibility criteria for PG programs

Reservations: 25% of the total seats are reserved for the students from the Karnataka domicile. The seats are offered to the students who fulfill the criteria of selection at the university.

Azim Premji University and Foundation believes that lack of finances should not be a problem for the students while seeking admission. Hence, they offer various financial aids to the students in the form of fee concessions known as scholarships. They offer scholarships on the basis of the family income. And it is applicable to tuition as well as the accommodation fee of the student for the whole duration of the course. The scholarships offered are:

• The students even get a 50% fee concession to the students who have work experience of 3 years or more than it.

Note: In exceptional cases, the students are even provided with food scholarships which are payable in most cases.

For getting the benefits of this scholarship the student has to fill out the form properly. They have to provide the university with proper information about the family income. And some other documents are to be attached by the students along with the scholarship form, they are mentioned below:
