Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University [BGSBU], Rajauri established in 2002 is a State University. BGSBU Rajauri is approved by UGC. Admission in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is offered in Engineering, Management and Humanities at UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Doctorate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students.
The Government of Jammu & Kashmir founded the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University by an act passed in the J&K Legislative Assembly, in 2002. The University is working as a “State University” with the approval of UGC. It is approved by AICTE also.
Vision: The University was founded with a vision to work constantly for the development of humans via Science and Technology and moral beliefs of the nation.
Mission: Its mission is to prepare its students to transform them into intellectual adventurers and capable of shaping the future of the nation.
BGSB University is a multi-disciplinary university. It provides quality education in social sciences, humanities, science and technology, management, arts, etc. In all, the university is running 56 programs at various levels in the eight schools functioning under it.
Students who are interested in applying for any courses in the university shall submit the application form online on the official portal of BGSB University. Seats for the UG and PG programs in the university are reserved for SC (5%), ST, (9%), Permanent residents of Rajouri and Poonch districts (25%), Other Backward classes (5%), EWS (10%), and Wards of Defence service personnel (5%).

Students pursuing PG courses in regular mode in the university can avail the benefits of National Scholarship for Post graduate Studies sponsored by UGC. The maximum age to apply for this scholarship is below 30 years. Additionally, students must submit all the documents like Aadhar Card, Category Certificate, Domicile Certificate, Bank Account Number, etc along with the application form. The other scholarships supported by the university are Post Matric Scholarship Schemes, Merit Cum Means Scholarship for technical and professional courses, etc.

The University has a Training and Placement Cell to act as a bridge between potential recruiters and the job seekers. The Cell not only acts as a link between industry and academics, but also provides training and guidance to sharpen the communication skills and personality development of the students. Regular seminars, conferences, workshops, etc are organised by the Cell. Students are provided with Guest lectures from scholars all over the world.

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University campus is nestled in the slopes of Dhanidhar hills, the southern part of the Pir Panjal mountain range. The campus is located 9 kms from Rajouri town. The eco-friendly, pollution free, and serene atmosphere of the campus helps students in their teaching and learning. The branch offices of the university are located in three different places: Jammu, Srinagar, and Kishtwar. Internet facility is available in all the teaching departments. There’s a shopping mall called, ‘Sab Rang Square’ built in the university premise where all the amenities for day to day requirements of the students are sold at affordable prices.
