Central Sanskrit University (formerly known as Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan), New Delhi established in 1970 is a Central University, currently having 151-200 position in NIRF Ranking 2024. Central Sanskrit University New Delhi is approved by UGC, and is accredited by NAAC-A. Admission in Central Sanskrit University is offered in Humanities, Teaching and Mass Communications at UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Doctorate/ Certificate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students.
Central Sanskrit University (CSU) formerly known by the name Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan was established on 15th October, 1970 as an autonomous organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 for the promotion and development of the ancient ‘Sanskrit’ language nationally and internationally. It has the privilege of working as a nodal agency for the implementation of policies and schemes related to Sanskrit in India. The University works in coordination with the Ministry of Education, Government of India and is the only multi campus language university in the world with its headquarters in New Delhi. It is accredited by NAAC with “A++” Grade.
Vision: The University’s vision is to make India as “Vishwa guru” in the global society for the glory of Sanskrit learning by transforming the university as a world class university.
Mission: CSU mission is to provide students a platform for acquiring knowledge based on Sanskrit heritage and apply it in all relevant fields in India. It works to develop the university as an accredited Sanskrit based knowledge hub to bring the language as a medium in mainstream education.
To achieve the vision and mission the university is offering various courses in various schools functioning under it. Below is the list of schools working under CSU.
Various courses offered by the institute are termed as Shastri, Acharya, Vidya Varidhi. Diploma and Certificate programs are available in Regular, Distance, Correspondence, and in Online mode.
Admissions to the university are based on the marks secured by the contenders in the Common University Entrance Examination (CUET). Preference will be given to the candidates having secured their name in the Merit list of the entrance exam for admission. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will get advantage as the reservation in admission is as per the government norms. Out of the total seats, 22.5% are reserved for SC/ST candidates, 27% for OBC (non creamy layer), and 5% for children/widows of the personnel of armed forces.

*Application form is available on the official website for the various courses. Additionally students who want to gain more knowledge and information and have any queries relating to admission must reach the nearby campus of the university.
Scholarships in the university are awarded to the meritorious students for one academic year and cannot be renewed automatically. A merit scholarship on All India basis is also awarded to the selected students pursuing higher courses in Sanskrit. Candidates who have obtained the minimum percentage in Sanskrit / Pali / Prakrit and aggregate in all subjects can apply for scholarships. The minimum score classification based on the category are :

Note: Students availing scholarships for the UG courses in the first year shall continue to receive the same for the entire duration of the course provided that they pass each year.
