Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi established in 2009 is a Deemed University, currently having 34th position in NIRF Ranking 2024. Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) is an autonomous super specialty institution under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi and has got ‘Deemed to Be University’ status under section 3 of UGC Act. The institute was established to provide world class training and teaching for curing liver and biliary diseases. ILBS is accredited by NAAC and is recognised by NIRF.
Vision: The institute works with a vision to become a center of excellence globally for the prevention, cure, training, and research in liver, biliary, and allied sciences.
Mission: ILBS mission is to provide international standard facilities for diagnosis and treatment, dedicated research and advanced training in the field of liver diseases and allied specialties. It also directs its efforts to serve as a torch-bearer model of health care by amalgamation of academic universities, clinical, and managerial skills of the corporate world.

For admission in Ph.D/ PDCC/ PGCC and Certificate courses in the institution students must qualify in the written examination followed by interview. Admission to the DM courses is through NEET. Upper age limit for candidates applying for Degree/ PDCC/ PGCC and Certificate Courses is forty years while for short courses it is 55 years. Relaxation of 5 years will be given to SC/ST candidates in both the cases. Candidates must be conscious of providing relevant documents after clearing the entrance exam. The academic session of the institute begins from the first day of the first month every year. There are also Short Term Training programs and Fellowship of which there is no entrance exam and applicants can apply through Online Training Portal.

The institute is a tertiary care, super specialty hospital situated in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi with over 1000 doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals. Candidates possessing degree courses from the institute have the option to get placed in the institute’s hospital itself or somewhere else. ILBS was constructed in two phases. Phase 1 facilities include an emergency department, a blood bank, operation theaters, a radiology department, and a pathology laboratory. The phase -II facilities include a research complex, a guest house, a hepato-biliary oncology unit and an auditorium.
