Bastar University is now also known as Shaheed Mahendra Karma Vishwavidyalaya; it is located in Bastar Region of Chhattisgarh. The campus is a part of Jagdalpur City and surrounded by natural beauty. There are 2 campuses of the University - one in Dharampura and the other in Kalipur.
Bastar University campus area is huge; apart from the academic buildings, Bastar University has residential quarters, a health centre, and a yoga centre. Within the campus, students get a number of academic and non-academic facilities that include library, laboratories, hostel, canteen, auditorium, sports facilities, gym, and much more.
The University has a Wi-Fi enabled campus with a computer lab allowing students to always remain updated with the latest developments in their field. There is ample space in the University’s auditorium for conducting academic activities such as seminars, conferences, workshops, and various cultural events. Furthermore, adequate facilities such as ramps, rails, wheelchairs, etc. are available for differently abled students.

- Library: The Central Library of Bastar University is housed within the academic building. It has a repository of more than 18,700 books, nearly 130 journals & magazines, and around 500 dissertations. The library has the membership of DELNET which provides access to around 6,750 libraries in India & abroad. Students can use the surfing zone to access e-journals and online content on Shodhganga, open e-resources, and Hindi e-resources in the library. The University library has Wi-Fi connectivity and an anti plagiarism detection software named Urkund.
- Auditorium: The University has around 3 auditoriums, each with a seating capacity of about 300 members. The auditorium has modern facilities including LCD projectors, whiteboards, screens, etc.
- Sports: Both the campuses have indoor games facilities for Badminton, Carrom, and Chess. Outdoor facilities are available at the old campus and include two fields for sports including Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Archery, etc. The other campus has a sports field and Badminton courts. There is a Sports officer who is responsible for organising intercollegiate competitions as well as selecting the University team for State and National level competitions.
- Hostels: The University has separate hostels for boys and girls with 100 seats each. Bastar University Hostel covers an area of approximately 2440 sq metres with around 52 dual occupancy rooms in each block. The hostel has a mess that serves lunch and dinner for students. The girls hostel is located within the University campus whereas the boys hostel is located at the Kalipur campus of the University. Hostel facilities include a reading room, dining hall, CCTV cameras, water cooler, geyser, and newspaper facility.
- Gymnasium: There is an “Open Gymnasium” at the University with around 35 exercise machines on the main campus while the Kalipur campus also has a well-equipped gym. There are separate time slots for male and female students for using the gym.
The campus of Bastar University provides several opportunities to make student life exciting and the experience a memorable one. Various seminars, conferences, workshops, and cultural events are organised on campus from time to time.
Students interested in sports can participate in sports competitions and physical fitness programs. Yoga and meditation sessions are conducted in the Yoga Centre every Saturday. The University has a few Clubs & Committees set-up to look after the students’ overall development and to resolve their issues within the campus.
