O.P. Jindal Global University is a private, not-for-profit university founded in 2009 and situated in Sonepat town in Haryana. The Haryana government played a key role in the establishment of JGU which was a humanitarian initiative of the industrialist Naveen Jindal. Naveen Jindal, the founding chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University laid the foundations for the academia in the memory of his late father O.P. Jindal.
JGU comprises of eight schools of studies including Jindal Global Business School, Jindal Global Law School, and Jindal School of International Affairs. C. Raj Kumar is the vice-chancellor of the university that has a student and faculty strength of 5,000 and 432 respectively. The university has the approval of UGC and its various courses are recognized by BCI, AICTE, NAAC, and AIU.
JGU lays high stress on research, and dedicated to upholding its fundamental institutional virtues, including innovative and interdisciplinary pedagogies. The academia desires to be a paragon of excellence in higher education by focusing on multidisciplinary teaching, research, and community service. The university’s vision is to transform students into responsible and dutiful citizens by providing sustainable and diversified education.
The academia’s mission is to sustain a high quality of service in all spheres of education through implementation of good practices for enabling students’ professional and personal development. 85% of the students are enrolled in undergraduate programs and 15% of the learners are pursuing a postgraduate course. The faculty strength is 432 out of which 51% is male and 49% female, and nearly 55% of them have earned their certifications from the top 2000 global universities.
