National Institute of Technology MCA Common Entrance Test is popularly known as NIMCET. Through NIT MCA CET / NIMCET, students can get in NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Patna, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli, Warangal and IIIT at Bhopal.
NIMCET 2026 will be conducted by one of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Online – Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam is also known as NIT MCA Common Entrance Test.

Before proceeding towards the application process of the entrance test, students need to ensure that they have met the NIMCET 2026 Eligibility Criteria. For NIMCET, students should have passed either a 3 years UG degree with Mathematics / Statistics or B.E. / B.Tech from any recognised University / Institute.
Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with minimum 60% marks / 6.5 CGPA in aggregate (5% relaxation in required percentage or 6.0 CGPA for candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwD category). Candidates must be an Indian National and there is no age limit to apply for the NIMCET exam.
Note: Students appearing in the qualifying examination can also apply for the entrance exam.
The NIMCET 2026 Registration will be open possibly in the 2nd Week of June 2026 by the NIT Tiruchirappalli (the exam conducting body). Students should know that they can register only online at “nimcet.admissions.nic.in” (the exam’s official website).
To register online, students require a valid email address and mobile number. After successful registration, students can login with the received credentials to fill in the details of the application form. Later on, complete the application process by uploading the required documents, paying the examination fee, and submitting the form before the last date which is 3rd Week of April 2026 (tentative).
Note: The exam authorities open a correction window if in any case students want to edit some specified sections after the submission of the application form.
The NIMCET Syllabus 2026 will be released by the NIT Tiruchirappalli on the exam’s official website very soon. Till then, students are advised to start the exam preparation as per the past year syllabus. Through the NIMCET paper pattern, students will know about the format in which the test authorities will conduct the upcoming NIMCET 2026 exam. As per the NIMCET 2026 Exam Pattern, there will be 3 parts in the test which will contain a total of 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The total time duration to appear in the exam is 2 Hours and each part of the paper has different time limits; Part 1 – 70 Minutes, Part II – 30 Minutes, and Part III – 20 Minutes.
The total marks for the exam is 1000 and the paper is conducted in only English language / medium. -0.25% will be deducted for every incorrect answer and a question marked with more than one answer. Moreover, no negative marking will be applicable for unattempted questions. Candidates should refer to the NIMCET 2026 Exam Pattern to get detailed knowledge about the marking scheme and test format.
NIT Trichy – the exam conducting body is responsible to issue the NIMCET 2026 Admit Card which will be released expectedly in the last week of May 2026. Once the admit card is issued, students can download it from the “nimcet.admissions.nic.in”. Students who have registered successfully before the deadline will be able to access the admit card online at the exam’s official website through the login credentials.
In any case, if students are not able to download the admit card, they can send an email to “[email protected]” with the required details including their application number and proof for the remittance of fee. Students will be able to send a request from the releasing date of the admit card till the 2nd Week of June 2026.

Students should know that solving NIMCET Previous Year Question Papers will make their exam preparation more effective. The past year papers / sample papers are regarded as one of the effective resources to evaluate the performance of the individual in terms of the exam preparation.

The NIMCET 2026 Result is supposed to be announced in the 5th Week of June 2026. The NIMCET 2026 Seat Allotment result will be announced in three rounds and it will be declared on the basis of availability of seats, students rank, and their choice of locking.
