NIMCET 2026: Exam Date, Registration, Eligibility, Syllabus, and More

NIMCET Exam is for the students who desire to seek admission in the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program in participating NITs and IIIT Bhopal. The NIMCET 2026 exam date is  8th June 2026 (tentative). The registrations will start probably from 17th April 2026. Moreover, the expected last date for NIMCET 2026 registrations is likely to be 16th May 2026. The exam conducting body will release the results of the entrance exam tentatively on 27th June 2026.

National Institute of Technology MCA Common Entrance Test is popularly known as NIMCET. It is a National Level Exam which is conducted once in a year by any one of the NITs (National Institute of Technology). NIMCET is conducted for admission in the Master’s Degree in the discipline of Computer Applications i.e., MCA. Through NIT MCA CET / NIMCET, students can get in NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Patna, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli, Warangal and IIIT at Bhopal.

NIMCET 2026 will be conducted by one of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Online – Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam is also known as NIT MCA Common Entrance Test.

Before proceeding towards the application process of the entrance test, students need to ensure that they have met the NIMCET 2026 Eligibility Criteria. For NIMCET, students should have passed either a 3 years UG degree with Mathematics / Statistics or B.E. / B.Tech from any recognised University / Institute.

Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with minimum 60% marks / 6.5 CGPA in aggregate (5% relaxation in required percentage or 6.0 CGPA for candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwD category). Candidates must be an Indian National and there is no age limit to apply for the NIMCET exam.

Note: Students appearing in the qualifying examination can also apply for the entrance exam.

The NIMCET 2026 Registration will be open possibly in the 2^nd Week of June 2026 by the NIT Tiruchirappalli (the exam conducting body). Students should know that they can register only online at “nimcet.admissions.nic.in” (the exam’s official website).

To register online, students require a valid email address and mobile number. After successful registration, students can login with the received credentials to fill in the details of the application form. Later on, complete the application process by uploading the required documents, paying the examination fee, and submitting the form before the last date which is 3^rd Week of April 2026 (tentative).

Note: The exam authorities open a correction window if in any case students want to edit some specified sections after the submission of the application form.

The NIMCET Syllabus 2026 will be released by the NIT Tiruchirappalli on the exam’s official website very soon. Till then, students are advised to start the exam preparation as per the past year syllabus. In accordance with the previous year syllabus, students need to prepare for 4 subjects to attain good marks in the upcoming NIMCET 2026 exam. Following are the subjects:

Through the NIMCET paper pattern, students will know about the format in which the test authorities will conduct the upcoming NIMCET 2026 exam. As per the NIMCET 2026 Exam Pattern, there will be 3 parts in the test which will contain a total of 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The total time duration to appear in the exam is 2 Hours and each part of the paper has different time limits; Part 1 – 70 Minutes, Part II – 30 Minutes, and Part III – 20 Minutes.

The total marks for the exam is 1000 and the paper is conducted in only English language / medium. -0.25% will be deducted for every incorrect answer and a question marked with more than one answer. Moreover, no negative marking will be applicable for unattempted questions. Candidates should refer to the NIMCET 2026 Exam Pattern to get detailed knowledge about the marking scheme and test format.

NIT Trichy – the exam conducting body is responsible to issue the NIMCET 2026 Admit Card which will be released expectedly in the last week of May 2026. Once the admit card is issued, students can download it from the “nimcet.admissions.nic.in”. Students who have registered successfully before the deadline will be able to access the admit card online at the exam’s official website through the login credentials.

In any case, if students are not able to download the admit card, they can send an email to “[email protected]” with the required details including their application number and proof for the remittance of fee. Students will be able to send a request from the releasing date of the admit card till the 2^nd Week of June 2026.

The exam centres are locations where the NIT Tiruchirappalli (the exam conducting body) will conduct the NIMCET 2026 exam. During the application process, students are required to choose maximum 3 test centres of their choice from the below-given list of NIMCET 2026 Exam Centres:

Through the NIMCET 2026 Preparation tips, students will be able to attain good marks in the exam which will lead them in securing admission in their preferred Institute. The below-given tips will help students in preparing for the exam effectively:

• Students should check the exam syllabus released by the authorities before starting the preparation to know about the topics and sub-topics that needed to be studied.
• Candidates are advised to practise with the past year papers to get an idea about the NIMCET test format.

NIT Tiruchirappalli – the exam conducting body has set some guidelines / instructions for the exam day which every aspirant has to follow at the test centre for entry and allotment of terminal. Refer to the below-given points for the same:

• Students need to report at the test hall 1 hour before the commencement time of the exam with the admit card.
• At the test centre, students must be present with the printed copy of admit card and a valid Photo ID proof including Aadhaar Card /  Voter ID Card / Pan Card, etc.
• Candidates are prohibited to carry calculators, mobile phones, smart watches, and any other personal belongings inside the examination hall.
• Students cannot bring separate sheets for rough work; it has to be done only in the test booklet.
• During the examination, candidates are not allowed to exchange any things / items, if an invigilator caught any students doing this, a strict action will be taken against them by the authorities.

Students should know that solving NIMCET Previous Year Question Papers will make their exam preparation more effective. The past year papers / sample papers are regarded as one of the effective resources to evaluate the performance of the individual in terms of the exam preparation.

Downloading and solving NIMCET Sample Papers will assist students in understanding the exam pattern including the type of questions which will be asked in the actual NIMCET 2026 paper, marking pattern, total marks, allotted time, etc.

The NIMCET 2026 Result is supposed to be announced in the 5^th Week of June 2026. To check the result, students have to visit the official website i.e., “nimcet.admissions.nic.in” and click on the result link. Afterwards, candidates have to login with the hall ticket number and password to view the result.

Students who have passed the qualifying criteria will receive an email which will have a link to the website for downloading the rank / score card of the test. The marks secured in each subject will be summed up by the authorities awarding a rank to the students.

The cut-off list includes minimum and maximum marks which students need to score in the exam to get admission in their desired participating institute i.e., any one of the NITs or IIIT Bhopal. The NIMCET 2026 Cut Off list will be released by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli on the official website of the exam that is “nimcet.admissions.nic.in”.

Students can check the cut-off list on the exam’s official website by using the login credentials. It is important for the students to meet the cut-off criteria to participate in the counselling process. Students are advised to refer to the last year’s cut-off list to have an idea about the average marks required to get admission in their desired Institutes.

The NIMCET 2026 Counselling process will be started probably in the 5^th Week of June 2026 after the declaration of results. To participate in the selection / counselling process, students are required to register online on “nimcet.admissions.nic.in” by paying Rs.1000/- as a fee before the last date which is 2^nd Week of July 2026 (tentative). Once the registration is completed, students have to complete choice filling and locking to get a seat in their concerned Institutes.

The NIMCET 2026 Seat Allotment result will be announced in three rounds and it will be declared on the basis of availability of seats, students rank, and their choice of locking. After the seat is allotted, students have to report at their allotted Institute for further formalities as per the specified schedule.
